In May 2016, Act For Ref set up the KIDDYBAG project, for children between 3 and 13 years old from the Katsikas refugee camp in Greece, to whom the association had already sent several packages of educational and recreational material in the spring of the same year.
Thanks to the financial support of a company that sponsored part of the project, 400 backpacks were ordered and a large collection of small nutritional, useful and fun things was done for several months to bring a smile, if only for a few moments, on the faces of almost 400 children between 3 and 13 years old from this camp, located in the Greek lands.
The collection of the various elements and the writing of messages of hope by children in France took place in several schools and youth centers which accepted to participate in the project and where we also organized presentations of the refugees situation to the children. They all have responded wonderfully to the explanations given as to why one can live the drama of having to leave one's home, friends, school, family, city and country and on the journey that follows.
In addition, many individuals and company staff participated in the project ...
the KIDDYBAG PROJECT backpacks and their content left on Wednesday 18 January 2017 for KATSIKAS camp in GREECE to be distributed to children !!! They arrived 10 days later!
THANK YOU ALL for helping us collect the 400 toothpastes, toothbrushes, candy bags, games and toys, plasters boxes, hair accessories, pencils, markers, notebooks, card games, cereal bars, bags of dried fruits, and plenty of other little things and for your help in general!
Without you, nothing would have been possible!
THANK YOU to the schools and youth centers that hosted our project presentations and organized fundraisers, to the children who wrote letters and made drawings, to the people who went around to gather dozens of things!
Messages of hope
During the long collection and organization of this project, we also collected many messages of hope written by children from different schools in our region. They were included in the camp package and distributed to the children on site.
